Whole30/Sugar Detox/AIP Journey - Day 24 (What I ate for the day)

Thursday!  I actually slept in until D's alarm went off!  6:15!  Woot woot!  Of course I didn't go to bed until after 10:30.

I had my protein shake and it made me chilly!  But at least not as chilly as I was yesterday!

Shortly after I had finished I received an email that the order I put in for work was ready early!  At least by an hour and a half which was perfect since I could easily park now at work and unload.  I grabbed a decaf coffee while at work and headed to Whole Foods.  YES, again!  I didn't go to the hot bar!  It was too early anyway!  I needed to get a sweet potato, ground turkey, kale and yogurt.  I was good and didn't get anything more!  After I went to the pet store to get treats and kitty food.  Hopefully there will be a surprise on Saturday!

When I got home I cooked up some Paleo Breakfast Scotch Eggs from Stupid Easy Paleo that I wanted for tonight's breakfast for dinner.  I only made half the recipe since I still have meatloaf.  I cooked up the other half of the sausage for another time too.

D asked for sweet potato chocolate chip cookies.  So I used Sally's Baking Addiction Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe and made a couple tweaks.  I subbed sweet potato for pumpkin, used coconut sugar instead of white sugar.  Everything else I kept the same.

I then did some restorative yoga.  If you haven't checked out Yoga By Candace I would highly suggest her Youtube channel.  By the end of the 30 minutes my stomach was rumbling!  Luckily all I needed to do was reheat my food and lunch would be served.

AIP meatloaf and sriracha brussels.  So good together.  As I have stated when I first made the meatloaf it is packed with veggies.  If you haven't checked out Real Plans yet I would highly suggest it.  Specially if you have a busy lifestyle and hate to meal plan.

Dinner!  I've been looking forward to this breakfast for dinner.  I had the scotch eggs I made earlier (I had one here and was still hungry so ate another).  Then 2 slices of Legit Bread with Performance Nut Butter.  It was seriously good, except I needed another egg!  Oh well, it's all good and it's all healthy good for me food!  I want to pack on some muscle and show those gains from the gym!

Oh, and D liked the cookies.  Said they are a little thicker then regular chocolate chip but then these are gluten free, without eggs and added sweet potato.  I hope you try out Sally's recipes!  Everything she makes is fabulous and I have been able to convert everything I have ever made to gluten free.

New Foods - Why am I so hungry?!

I don't know why - but for me I am ALWAYS extra hungry on rest days.  I mean seriously I could eat all the things right now!  I ate almost 1000 calories at dinner and yet still hungry and I have drank a ton of water.
So, what new foods have I brought back in?  Well today I had one of the new RxBar's - Mixed Berry. I also ate 2 slices of Legit Bread - it's under the eggs!  I had 2 kinds in the freezer - one that was low carb and one that was the original recipe and I can't remember which was which - Oh well!  Yes, that was my almost 1000 calorie dinner.  2 slices of bacon, green beans and jalapeƱo cooked in the bacon drippings, a chicken thigh (ate another and hour later), 2 eggs on Legit bread and mayo on top.  Seriously so good, I almost couldn't eat it fast enough!  Just bizarre!  Now earlier I had my typical breakfast and shake for lunch. I even had some coffee with canned lite coconut milk.

So they RxBar was tasty.  A little sticky and chunks of almonds but the flavor was definitely mixed berry.  On a sad note I had jaw pain that developed later in the day.  I'm thinking that almonds just really are not my friends.  I should give them up for a while longer.

I'm also on week 2 of my lifting program and able to push a little more weight.  The lifting time is shorter than in later weeks.

My bench press weight - I want it over 35#.  It was there the first round!
I'm also taking Stryker to work with me on a weekly basis.  Every Tuesday!  He gets requested now.  It's so cute, he is getting more comfortable and will go exploring.  He is a natural whiner but it's gets really bad when lunch arrives.  I have to take him out of the office for the hour.  He even barks at everyone for their food.  He does start to get bored though!

Oh puppy!  Get to work!  Make a phone call!
I have to get the nut butters out.  No it isn't a new food intro but there are times I eat it too many days in a row and my chin breaks out.  I'm currently dealing with that one!  So I know my trigger foods and nuts are one of them.  So I just need to limit them to 3 times per week and I think I will be ok.  First though my face needs to heal up more.  Just a sign that things are not always perfect and I don't expect them to be.  I can deal with small eliminations of things.  If I can have them every now and then I am good.  Just no going crazy and eating it every day.  I haven't done it with coffee so I should be better about nut butters.  Almonds are the worst though and I had them 2 days in a row and I got more breakouts - so I sent my bestie Kari a gift package of all the almond based things in the house.  Including those RxBars.  I did keep the peanut butter one though and can't wait to try it.

I'm looking forward to the weekend and it's almost here.  I have been busy at work, but not busy enough to make the day fly by.  I have nothing big planned, just the usual.  Cardio in the basement in the morning followed by breakfast, coffee and lifting.  Sunday it's suppose to rain 100% so I may just get up for when the gym opens at 8am and go running.

We shall see if it does rain or not.  I still haven't been to the farmers market since they opened at the beginning of the month.  So I guess it will depend on the weather for that one.  What other plans can there be?!

Now what?

Apparently I set my alarm for doing a home cardio workout this morning.  I still woke up at my "usual" time and just got up and headed for the gym.  Today is cardio only according to my plan.

Workout of the Day:  20 minutes elliptical - always variety in intensity.  That was followed by 30 minutes of treadmill jogging.  Nice and steady at 5.6.  Felt really great

I got home and took care of a few things, showered and ate some coconut butter.  I somehow forgot about this in my cupboard that I open daily.

I again as every morning battling for my breakfast with Kaat!

She is just so cute.

She lays on the table and annoyingly reaches her leg across the table and tries to put her paw in the bowl.  Who can blame her?!  All the bacon and pork!  YUM is all I have to say.  An herbal tea latte was on the side.  She has no problem steering clear of that.

I got the dishes cleaned up and got ready for work.  I even had time to vacuum the floors before I left.  They needed it.  Work wasn't bad today, I kept busy with all the calls I made but around noon my stomach began to grumble and I wanted to head home for a few reasons:  We had horrible wind gusts all day so I wanted to make sure the Big Dawg was ok.  He HATES noise.  I had to put him on his leash to get him out the door.  Wanted to make sure we had power.  Yes we do.  Then I wanted lunch!  As I prepared it I tried some jicama sticks I got at Trader Joe's.  I forgot how much I liked these.  Kind of sweet and crunchy.  I've been missing crunchy!

Todays bowl was avocado, ground turkey, swiss chard, cauliflower and shredded brussel sprouts cooked in avocado oil.  I haven't had swiss chard in a long time and it wasn't too bad.

I got back to work and emailed my doctor to clarify that during this elimination phase I could have herbal teas, which happily I can and I have a few favorites.  I also wanted to see if I could eat Legit bread, it is seriously the best bread out there.  I sent him the link and even though it's paleo and clean it's still considered a "cheat".  So no go as a replacement for Thursday night pancake night.  I don't get any of it, no pancakes, no bread like product.  I considered eating eggs bacon, and maybe some parsnip fries, but since I had eggs yesterday I noticed today I have a couple breakouts!

Could it be the eggs are offensive?!  I had broccoli too yesterday?  Is that possible?  A combination of two foods that are offensive?  I scored a 1 for both of these, so no more than 3 times per week.  It's questionable.  Another word on questionable I had the shake again, 4 scoops and by the end it just sit right.  I know I will get use to it, just like carob.  Once you are use to the odd taste you love it.

I did't eat a typical dinner since I wasn't really hungry when I got home.  I made D's dinner which was a quick orange chicken, sweet potato with peas and carrots.  I made a plain chicken breast cooked in some avocado oil for me and ate 3 small pieces, a few bites of roasted sweet potato.  Later I went back for the remainder of my roasted cauliflower and cabbage.  I topped it off with a few bites of coconut butter.

I'm not sure I'm getting at least 6 cups of vegetables?  Do you think it looks that way?

Thoughts on eggs - since I have a tendency for them to be offensive - acne causing?

What should I talk about in the upcoming days?

Meditation practice?  Workouts?  Meals on a protocol?  Something else?
