Whole30 Journey - Day 11 Friday!

Happy Friday!!

Day 11 of Whole30/Sugar Detox

It's going by pretty quickly and it feels pretty normal.  Some days I'm hungrier than others.  Kinda like today.

Yoga with big dawg - I was in bridge and he was in, well he wasn't into anything but lying there for the moment.

Ignore the burner in the background!  I clean it and the next time I cook it looks like that.  So frustrating!  Well I wasn't really hungry so I opted for coffee with collagen.  About 2 hours after I got to work I had 2 pieces of bacon.  I knew I would be a bit hungry.

Lunch I had early, like 10:30 early.  I brought the remaining bit of Greek Beef Stew from Melissa Joulwan that I posted earlier in the week.  Yes that is a repurposed jar.  I wonder how the taste would have been if I had done the cinnamon sticks rather than 2 tbs cinnamon.  The flavor was just wonderful.  I chopped up the avocado and mixed it in.  It gave the stew an added thickness that it needed, so satisfying.  I was definitely full after it and knew it would carry me over until dinner.

I had work things to do "after" work.  I had bread to pick up and pastries.  I also had to pick up milks for the coffeehouse.  I had a small bit of almond butter, which I need to watch.  I can be really intense with nut butters and then it shows in my face (acne).
I got hungry before D got home so I went ahead and made dinner.  He showed up right when I finished.

My meals always vary slightly from his.  I had a baked sweet potato that I cut in slices and placed in the broiler to get some crispy edges and seasoned with a little salt.  In a cast iron skillet I cooked up burgers.  I've been typically getting grass fed beef at Trader Joe's.  If it's on sale at Whole Foods I get it there.  I ran out of cooked fresh veggies this morning so I cooked up frozen brussels and broccoli in my cast iron in the grease from the burger and added arugula at the end to wilt down.  I topped the burger with Sir Keninsgton's mayo and 2 pieces of bacon.  Because bacon on everything, right!

I sent my bestie a care package that she received today and in it was some Performance Nut Butter that I bought as a kickstarter back in summer.  I sent her 2 packets to try.  She raved how great it was. I still hadn't tried it, until tonight.

It isn't what I thought it would be, it was better.  First, it's just so good!  I was expecting more of a peanut butter consistency (thick) but the addition of the coconut butter makes this nut butter very pale, very smooth and just pleasant.  Easy to get addicted to this nut butter.  It's paleo, vegan and keto friendly.  Triple score right there.  I only planned on eating some of it, but I'm eating it all.  This nut butter is sold on Amazon too, so definitely check it out if you love all things nut butter!

Whole30 Journey - Day 9

Day 9!  Up early!!

D had to be up and I naturally (if I'm not working) will start to wake up around 5 or 5:30.  I must take after my dad!  He has always been an early riser.  I mean I do have HPA Axis Dysfunction (adrenal fatigue).  The Paleo Mom, Sarah Ballantyne, explains it here in Part 1 of her 3 part series.

Everything was as usual, fed the animals and get D out the door.  I fixed my breakfast which was really great today!  I, of course, woke up hungry!

Since I meal prepped breakfast was done quickly.  Loving that!!  I used ground beef (grass fed), cocoa roasted cauliflower, red kale and arugula.  I love wilted greens!  Every green included romaine.  I loved it seared, wilted, warmed, just yummy!

I had errands to run and the gym to go to!  I was out the door by 8:30.  I had to stop at the post office to drop off a few packages then I hit the gym.  The workout was pretty good.  I was able to up my weight on many of my lifts.  From there I had to stop at Whole Foods.  I was hoping to get Nom Nom Paleo's Magic Mushroom powder but they didn't have it in yet.  Said to check back in a few days.  I got my groceries and grabbed a coffee.  Next was Target to refill a prescription and pick up a couple birthday cards and a couple tank tops.  And then I had to go to the mall to pick up a birthday gift for my dad.  I checked out Nordstrom but saw nothing.  I knew I would find a shirt at Tommy Bahama, which I did.  It was on the other side of the mall but I didn't mind the walking and drinking my coffee.

Finally, I got home and didn't think I was that hungry until I made lunch.  2 chicken thighs mixed with a small avocado and a few brussels.  It really hit the spot.  Shortly after I felt extremely tired.  I wanted to do some cleaning but had to lie down on the couch for a while.

It's a little dark but big dawg was cuddling with me on the couch.  He's so sweet and loves his momma!  After a little while I felt a bit better, never got to sleep, but felt better.  I made some half car coffee and I got a few things cleaned.  Before I knew it D messaged that he was on his way and needed to reheat dinner.

I reheated the broccoli that I pan steamed.  I broiled the sweet potato that I roasted.  I sliced it up and but a little butter on the sheet pan.  I broiled it for about 10 minutes.  The edges got a little crispy, but I like it that way.  I put half of the Greek Beef Stew from Melissa Joulwan in a skillet to get that warm and reduce the broth so it was nice and thick.  D liked this recipe.  I made it in the Instant Pot and the stew meat came out so tender!  I adjusted the recipe down.  I had just a little over 1 lb of meat.  I didn't want a lot of leftovers (like the chili!).  I did have to drain off some of the liquid since I added to much water to the recipe since I didn't follow the cooking method.  I also replaced the the cinnamon stick with ground and used 2 tbs.

So there was my day.  Oh I do have to say that I was really in the mood to bake some banana bread, which I didn't.  I was looking for something that didn't use egg or any sweeteners.  I didn't really find one yet, so it will probably wait until February anyway.

Next week I may follow Nom Nom Paleo for Whole30 or go with my Real Plans meal plan for AIP and eliminate the sugars, etc from there.
