Whole30/Sugar Detox/AIP Journey - Day 21 (What I ate for the day)

It was another early morning for Day 21 and what I ate for the day!  I was up at 5:30 with D since he needed to be at work at 7am.  I had some work errands to do and getting them done early would be good since parking at work is a nightmare!

I had time to have my cup of collagen coffee and met oil.  I will be changing that up since I chatted with my functional MD today and a reason I may not be eating first meal until later in the day could be due to the coffee consumption.  So I will eat my first meal and have coffee later in the morning.

I got dressed for the gym and headed out to get my errands done.  I did grab a bar (Julian's Bakery Pegan Protein) on my way out cause I had that feeling I would be hungry shortly, which I was and glad I brought it.  I probably wouldn't be able to get through my workout without it.  I don't think it's Whole30 complaint, but I'm not completely Whole30 either.

I did feel a little nauseous after eating it though.  I think it's the inca seeds!?

I got to the gym and did the following routine

20 minute incline treadmill walk (4.2) @ 10% to 14%
3 to 4 rounds - 6 to 8 reps
Leg Press - single leg 90 to 130#
Leg Press 210 to 250#
Leg extensions - single leg 40#
Leg extensions 70#
Body weight squats in between extensions
db chest press 35#
chest fly 20#
goblet squats 35#
db shoulder press 25#
I did abs in between each exercise starting with the chest press.  I finished off with some straight arm pull downs and a quick set of fixed lat pull downs.

I headed to Starbucks for a decaf coffee with cinnamon and then to Whole Foods.  I was double charged the other day when I bought ghee.  They were so helpful and nice and even gave me a gift card for the trouble.  So I picked up a bag of Siete Lime Tortilla chips and some RxBars for D.  If the hot bar would have been open I would have grabbed more Nom Nom Paleo food but it was so I needed to go home and cook some food.

Bilinski chicken mushroom sausage (made 2) and sautéed brussels, onions, broccoli and spaghetti squash in Kettle and Fire bone broth.  It came out so amazing.  After lunch I had my Skype appointment with my functional.  I love being able to see a doctor via Skype.  Anyway there I things I need to work on like stress management and improving my immune system.  My gut is inflamed and I think with getting that straight and calming myself, which includes 30 minutes of meditation EVERYDAY will be beneficial.  I am determined to get myself straight in the next 3 to 6 months.  He also mention doing a detox in 3 months.  I'm also not going to stress about the things that I can't control.  I need to learn to let go.

I had a dentist appointment shortly after that (and a couple stops in between).  My teeth are cleaned and going to fix a broken filling next week.  The hygienist said that my gums were great!  That's the first time I've ever heard that!

I got home and began my meditation.  Well first I had to feed Jack, Stryker and Nostrand or I would never get my peaceful 30 minutes.  I went into youtube and found a 30 minute music meditation, not guided  and began to focus on breathing.  I also started a mantra of "my body is healthy and strong".  Thinking this mantra brings about a positive change and I am committed to it.

I decided to do some food prep and get dinner going.  I roasted some veggies - the usual suspects - cauliflower, broccoli, brussels, asparagus, green beans, sweet potatoes and spaghetti squash.  I made an AIP meatloaf topped with bacon.  I pan seared the remaining bacon too.

For dinner I cooked up kale in ghee with onions and garlic and pan seared the salmon in more ghee.  The skin was crispy and  ate that too with a little salt.

I ended up topping the salmon with green goddess dressing.  I'm super addicted to that stuff and it's just so clean!

So I'm finishing up with today's post with a cup of Pukka cinnamon tea and going to relax.  Good night and till day 22.

Whole30 Journey Day 13

Sunday Workday!

I didn't get the best sleep last night.  I woke up just about every hour.  Then just before 4am Jack decided he was going to get sick on the carpet by the bed.  I guess it was time to get up!  I cleaned the spot and let the dogs out.  I got a pot of coffee going and got to my yoga practice.

After last night's dinner I wasn't feeling like breakfast so I opted for a collagen coffee and assembled my brunch for while I was at work.

I ended up eating around 9:30am, dinner the previous night was 5:30.  My stomach had been upset and not 100% sure what caused it.  Nothing major but more bloating and feeling like I had a brick in my stomach.  My stomach felt fine in the morning just wasn't feeling like food.

2 chicken thighs mixed with a small avocado, red onion and 2 strips of bacon.

Work was so slow, but time was going by quickly.  I was also hungry again at 12:30pm for I brought a bar just in case and I'm glad I did.  I would have been pretty hangry by the time we ate dinner.  I actually didn't get busy until 1:30pm and I close the kitchen at 3pm.  Really?!  I've been here all day guys!  I was able to get some things done, so it was a totally boring day.

This is one of the items on the menu at work - Avocado Toast with a fried egg, isn't it pretty?!

I reached home after work, well as best I could since I walk.  I got cleaned up and D and I headed to Shiro's in Novi for Luke's birthday (nephew).  He turned 12 today and absolutely loves sushi.  He said he had it for breakfast and lunch today too. My dad is coming to town tomorrow to take him to sushi again!  I highly doubt he will be sick of it!

I had the black sesame ahi tuna that comes with a mixed vegetable of zucchini, squash and red pepper.  On top is a sea weed salad and the side sauce is a wasabi cream.  For the amount of food I had today this hit the spot and I ate it all!  Dinner was over as quickly as it began and we all parted ways.  D and I stopped at Dunkin Donuts for coffee.  I only get black coffee there and it's just ok in my opinion.  Tomorrow should be Starbucks.

So now that we are home I'm sitting with the big dawg and we will all spend some quality time together.

Until Day 14!  It's going to be a busy day and I hope to take a lot of pictures!

Whole30 Journey - Day 11 Friday!

Happy Friday!!

Day 11 of Whole30/Sugar Detox

It's going by pretty quickly and it feels pretty normal.  Some days I'm hungrier than others.  Kinda like today.

Yoga with big dawg - I was in bridge and he was in, well he wasn't into anything but lying there for the moment.

Ignore the burner in the background!  I clean it and the next time I cook it looks like that.  So frustrating!  Well I wasn't really hungry so I opted for coffee with collagen.  About 2 hours after I got to work I had 2 pieces of bacon.  I knew I would be a bit hungry.

Lunch I had early, like 10:30 early.  I brought the remaining bit of Greek Beef Stew from Melissa Joulwan that I posted earlier in the week.  Yes that is a repurposed jar.  I wonder how the taste would have been if I had done the cinnamon sticks rather than 2 tbs cinnamon.  The flavor was just wonderful.  I chopped up the avocado and mixed it in.  It gave the stew an added thickness that it needed, so satisfying.  I was definitely full after it and knew it would carry me over until dinner.

I had work things to do "after" work.  I had bread to pick up and pastries.  I also had to pick up milks for the coffeehouse.  I had a small bit of almond butter, which I need to watch.  I can be really intense with nut butters and then it shows in my face (acne).
I got hungry before D got home so I went ahead and made dinner.  He showed up right when I finished.

My meals always vary slightly from his.  I had a baked sweet potato that I cut in slices and placed in the broiler to get some crispy edges and seasoned with a little salt.  In a cast iron skillet I cooked up burgers.  I've been typically getting grass fed beef at Trader Joe's.  If it's on sale at Whole Foods I get it there.  I ran out of cooked fresh veggies this morning so I cooked up frozen brussels and broccoli in my cast iron in the grease from the burger and added arugula at the end to wilt down.  I topped the burger with Sir Keninsgton's mayo and 2 pieces of bacon.  Because bacon on everything, right!

I sent my bestie a care package that she received today and in it was some Performance Nut Butter that I bought as a kickstarter back in summer.  I sent her 2 packets to try.  She raved how great it was. I still hadn't tried it, until tonight.

It isn't what I thought it would be, it was better.  First, it's just so good!  I was expecting more of a peanut butter consistency (thick) but the addition of the coconut butter makes this nut butter very pale, very smooth and just pleasant.  Easy to get addicted to this nut butter.  It's paleo, vegan and keto friendly.  Triple score right there.  I only planned on eating some of it, but I'm eating it all.  This nut butter is sold on Amazon too, so definitely check it out if you love all things nut butter!
