Tired and Hungry! - How to deal??!?!! Week in one Post

I love to put exclamations points multiple times - like one is just never enough.  More is better, ok we know that is not true, but for this it is!  Right now, more exercise is not better.  Monday I started my 14 week lifting cycle over again.  Monday was chest focused.  It was over so quick compared to what it has been.  But, I get to focus on lifting heavier right now in the first 7 weeks then the last.  Tuesday was legs and Wednesday was cardio.  For my cardio I ran 2 miles then did 10 minutes of kettlebell swings, followed by 2 more miles on the treadmill.  It was nice to break it up, plus I had a bathroom break and figured it was a good switching point.

The rest of Wednesday I was just plain exhausted and before dinner came around I was staving and ate so much!  It was similar to what I ate Monday night, pic on the top!  BUT, it was 2 chicken thighs, 1/2 pound of sautéed vegetables and a heap of purple sweet potato fries.  The pic on the bottom is tonight's (Thursday) dinner.  White sweet potato avocado toast, mixed with mayo, 2 eggs and bacon with some sautéed spinach.  I did eat more sweet potato then this.

Monday dinner -crispy chicken thighs, oven roasted purple sweet potato fries, cauliflower and green beans

Friday, finally here!  The morning went very quickly BUT the afternoon was the slowest EVER!  I was less than motivated but kept to it.  I again was so hungry when I got home.  I ate my left over white sweet potato and made crispy chicken thighs (my new fav!) and 1/2 pound of sautéed veggies.  I also ate a few bites of "granola" from Whole Me.  Very little sugar - I think the thing I crave the most is texture.  A couple bites, despite not being hungry got that craving out of the way.  I figured I will need the extra bit for the mornings hour kickboxing in the basement and lifting.

Saturday morning - You know where I was!  See above, right - Kickboxing!  PopSugar's The Cut 60 minute.  So Good!!  I was a sweaty mess at the end and it was perfect way to warm up for my later lifting session.  Breakfast and lifting - what a great day!  Today was coffee day for me.  So I ordered Starbucks.  Coconut milk misto for me.  SO GOOD!!  I also stopped at the Daily Dozen for 2 donuts for D and the fur babies.  Double chocolate and blueberry!
Double Chocolate!
Blueberry!
After my breakfast, I then decided to tackle some house cleaning and yard work.  I removed half embedded stone from the yard and moved them to the driveway - each one weighing about 20 lbs.  I did this about 40 times, tiring.  When I came in I decided to eat my shake with Maple Hill Creamery grass fed yogurt.  This was a great twist!
Holy Cats! Was this good!!
Saturday night we went out to dinner at a local Italian restaurant called Picano's for an early Mother's Day dinner with D's parents, his brother and girlfriend.  It's pretty decent.  The inside is quite dated and usually has big parties.  Since a majority of the menu was all gluten I had a strip steak with 3 potato wedges and green beans.  I also had a glass of Chianti (Oops!).  I hope it was low sugar enough.

Sunday morning workout, I did a double fun kettlebell workout from Carrots n Cake.  I adapted it slightly.  I did 4 rounds of the first portion - which was 20 kb swings, 10 single arm rows then a 1.10 mile run.  Why 1.1 miles?  Well, that was the distance from my house to key points.  When 4 rounds were up I let the pups outside with me so I could move on to the next set, which again I adapted.  I stuck tot he 20 minute time frame and did 20 kb swings, 10 single arm rows and 20 walking lunges (each leg).  I think I got in 4 rounds.  After that was set I jogged up to Dunkin Donuts and got D an iced caramel coffee with cream and a double chocolate donut.  I also got a blueberry donut for the pups and Kaat.  They love it!

I still felt hungry but waited a little bit and had my shake with a banana.  The banana was a bit bigger then I should have had since I have a slight intolerance to them but I felt pretty good after it.  I did make a coconut milk (canned no junk) iced coffee with Chameleon Cold Brew Vanilla.  I love that stuff - it was refreshing and took my slight headache away.  I think it's because I did a lotted not enough water.  So besides my workout I went to Home Depot and moved 3 times - 40 lb bags of sand and top soil (5 bags).  Then I cut the grass.  Some Mother's Day, huh?! Well, I'm only a fur baby momma -but I love it!

The rest of the evening I am going to relax a bit we are going to take the dogs for a walk -make dinner, watching t.v, eat cashew butter and coconut butter and getting my questions ready for my appointment tomorrow morning with Dr. Allen.

Sunday and all the things

Sunday morning donut run (for D and the pups) at the Daily Dozen, seems like a Sunday ritual!  Stryker ended up with a upset tummy after Friday's human breakfast food feast!  He seems much better this morning.  He has had consistent diarrhea - but he has maintained his hydration, stayed active and has eaten a bland diet.

Me on the other hand had a very flavorful breakfast with a dandelion tea latte.  I sautéed radishes, zucchini, mushrooms, shredded brussels, bacon and avocado.  I just loved this combination.

I drank my tea with this view this morning.  I realized what time it was.  We had a house showing at 11 and it was almost 10.  I got D up, he drank his coffee and ate some Girl Scout cereal - Thin Mint.  He said it was decent.  At least it is a limited edition.  He could get to really liking it.  Anyway, I vacuumed, dusted, put laundry away and spot cleaned anything that needed it.  We packed up the pups and headed to the pet store to get kitty food and pumpkin for Stryker.

Isn't she cute - she loves to lay on paper and coats - pretty much anything she can snuggle into.  Unfortunately I had to push her off so I could get to the gym to run.

I did a slow run today, I just wanted to get 8 miles in and it really didn't matter how long it took.  I wasn't looking to push it today, there was no needed to.  I'm happy with the results!  I stopped at Dunkin donuts on my way home to get D another coffee - he was home on the spinner.  Once home I grabbed a grass fed beef stick and a few bites of coconut chips.

I read some emails then decided I really needed to meditate.  It has been a very shaky practice for me to devote 30 minutes to de-stressing.  I downloaded a random app with soothing sounds, went into another room and relaxed.  It was long enough because at 30 minutes I was getting hungry.

I roasted some cabbage in avocado oil (which I ate several pieces) and made this yummy dinner.  Parsnips fries again, pan fried asparagus, ribeye and avocado.  After dinner was 2 tablespoons of coconut butter.

I wanted to mention one last thing before I finish this day up.  So I have been trying to get in at least 60 ounces of water per day.  Some days are easier then others.  But what I have been noticing this week is my lips and skin are drier than what they have been and I have an increase in thirst.  I haven't found anything saying why this could be but just started looking.  WebMD pointed at a couple things which I know are not my case.  I will continue and see how things change.

Sunday Run Day - Food Prep!

Weekends - mean I still get up early cause the animals dance on me for their breakfast early.  I feed them and then go out for coffee for D.  I miss weekend coffee, but it's tea for me for now.  On my way to get our weekend Starbuck's fix - white chocolate peppermint mocha for D and I tried a matcha latte with coconut milk.  I guess that grassy taste just sounded good to me and it had the lesser of sugars than a chai.  I stopped at the Daily Dozen for 2 donuts - one for D and one for the fur babies to share.  I should have taken a pic of them, but luckily enough their Facebook profile has them!  I got the critters their usual sour cream and D I got a Dutch Crumb which is their take on a coffeecake donut.

I got home and prepped cabbage and cauliflower to get roasted while I fixed the rest of breakfast and chopped up an onion.  The more prep I can get done the easier it is to have dinner done once I get home at 6pm.  I still have some sweet potatoes to cook, which I will roast in the oven.  I prepped Bubble & Squeak from Eat Heal Thrive, made with regular sweet potato.  D had is weekday usual - 2 eggs with cheese and spinach.  I had below - 2 strips of bacon, 3 oz ground pork, 1/2 an avocado with cauliflower and spinach.  The rest of the morning was laundry and any extra food prep I felt like getting done for the week

Just before 1 I got ready to head to the gym.  Sunday is my run day.  My plan was 6 miles on the treadmill.  I could have ran outside but chose not to.  The best thing about treadmill running is you can push yourself harder then what you expect you can do. So I did negative splits and accomplished my goal.  I just wanted to be under an hour for 6 miles.  I use to do a 10k under 45 minutes.  I know I can get back there and I hope it will be soon.  No worries here!

After the gym I needed to find D Mexican Chocolate Noosa.  It's chocolatey and with a slight kick.  Very yum, but I can't go there anymore.  Whomp whomp.  They have been out of it at the local stores.  I figured Target always carries it.  They do and of course it all was expiring in 2 days!  D won't eat 4 yogurts in 2 days.  UGH!  So I went to another store and it was a bust as well!  ARG!!

On the plus side I did find this Suja drinking vinegar.  I am totally loving drinking vinegars right now.  It does take a while to get use to but once you do it's just so good and a good kind of addicting.  I grabbed this Peach Ginger and wasn't disappointed.  The right amount of peach and the sweet heat of ginger was delightful!  It was a perfect drink after my run and not too many grams of sugar, which is a bonus.

I came home, unloaded my groceries and grabbed the jar of peanut butter.  I figured it was going to be my last day for a while so why not.  I added a few extra Siete chips too, just the small crumbs.  Then I figured I should color my hair, since Sunday seems to be my go to day for that.  I use Madison Reed.  IT's been the best hair color without all the junk or the nauseating smell!  My color is Perugia Black, which doesn't come out black on me but a nice dark brown.  It's pretty perfect.  The kit comes with everything you need.  Gloves, cap, color, wipes, barrier cream and shampoo and conditioner!  Who doesn't want all that in one box?!  The price is great too.  Go check it out if you color your hair at home.  As I was waiting for the color I decided to take measurements, no scale to note my weekly progress.  I'm sure when inflammation goes down I will notice changes and I'm for sure inflamed today, but here are my 3 that I'm taking, I don't care about anything else.  Bust 36" waist 26" hips 36".  I did have to laugh at those, I'm an hourglass! LOL

Tonight if we stay home to eat I may make the AIP Italian Calzone I have been hearing so much about.  We decided to get Qdoba.  EXCEPT they gave me the spicy steak and I wanted the grilled steak.  Needless to say I have a headache from it.  It also had pulled pork, lettuce and guacamole.  At least their guac doesn't have tomato!  It was certainly filling, but I still had 2 carob coconut butter cups.

Now I'm just going to be lazy for the rest of the night.  Tomorrow morning comes early and I'm going to do my workout at home instead of the gym.  I want to see if I can push it at home like I can at the gym.  I have the weights here to do the prescribed workout.  I hope I can challenge myself enough.  But, I always feel like I could have done more.

Enough of over thinking!  I will probably go overindulge on some chips before bed, but I will accept it and move on.  Tomorrow is a new day with a new protocol.  I will be better on the other side and know what works and what doesn't work for my body.  Let the adventure begin!
